As the presiding European Commerce Registers’ Forum (ECRF) register, the Serbian Business Register Agency (SBRA) organized and hosted the 3rd XBRL ECRF Conference in Belgrade on 18 January 2008.

This expert ECRF Conference was devoted to XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language), the international standard in financial and business reporting, as well as its application in the work of business registers.

The Belgrade Conference was attended by 73 participants from the US, 16 European countries (Switzerland, Estonia, Luxembourg, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the British Channel Island Guernsey, Latvia, Italy, Greece, Lithuania, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Croatia, Lichtenstein, Ireland, the Netherlands and Denmark) and Serbia (National Bank of Serbia, Belgrade Stock Exchange, Statistical Office of the Republic, Spinnaker – a member of ComTrade Group, Belit d.o.o. and the College of Accounting and Stock Exchange.

Ms. Liv A. Watson, XBRL expert from the U.S., (Vice President of Global Strategy, EDGAR Online Inc. NASDAQ; EDG, the leading global supplier of comprehensive business and financial information and reports on multinational companies, XBRL International Steering Committee Member and Chair of XBRL International Jurisdiction Development Working Group, responsible for the development of the international EDGAR Online Inc. standard), shared with the participants her extensive and rich experience in the implementation of this standard in the US. Mr. Paolo Lombardi, Director of the Centre for the Contact Groups Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Coordinator of the ICT Musing Project, funded by the European Union, presented his experience in the application of XBRL in the banking sector.

Following the conference, the Agency launched an “XBRL initiative in Serbia”. This initiative group, composed by representatives of several stakeholder institutions from the public and private sectors, plans to soon set in motion proposals for law amendments and practical work on the application of XBRL standards in Serbia (creating national taxonomies).

Dear All,

On behalf of Mr. Zvonko Obradovic, SBRA Director & 2007/2008 President of the ECRF Steering Committee, Mr. Branislav Dobrosavljevic, SBRA System Manager, Mrs. Gabrijela Petkovic Jovanovic, SBRA PR Manager, and on my own behalf – let me thank you very much for your coming to Belgrade, Serbia, on the occasion of the 3rd XBRL Conference, held in HYATT Regency Beograd Hotel on the 18th of January, 2008!

IT WAS OUR REAL PRIVILEGE TO BE YOUR HOSTS!

Again, many thanks to Ms. Liv A. Watson and Mr. Paolo Lombardi – who have kindly accepted our invitation to be the Conference keynote speakers – for their tremendous contribution to the event!

This is also to thank a lot to: Mr. Ryan Gydesen, Mr. Matthieu van Bommel, Ms. Helene Alund, Ms. Monica Grahn, Mr. Nico Weydert, Ms. Paola Fumiani, Mr. Piero Milani, Mr. Arthur West, Ms. Jo Jones and Dr. Stanislav Polic, for their more than valuable presentations!

We really wouldn’t have succeeded in our endeavor to prepare a good Conference agenda without such a great assistance of yours!

And now, allow me to end my “speech” in a less formal manner: If you’ve smiled just for a second when started reading this announcement, it would mean to us that SBRA crew has succeeded in its attempt to somehow, modify the ECRF, from a European Commerce Registers’ FORUM - into the European Commerce Registers’ FAMILY!

Hoping that you’ve arrived back to your destinations safely, and looking forward to welcoming you in Belgrade again, on the occasion of the 11th Annual ECRF Conference (June 19-20, 2008), I do remain,

Sincerely yours,

Snezana Tosic, International Relations Adviser, SBRA.
